After an intense battle between two of Maryland’s best, St. Mary’s Annapolis walked away with a 12-10 victory over Boys’ Latin.

Going into the game, Boys’ Latin ranked 15th in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings and 5th in Maryland.  St. Mary’s Annapolis, not far behind, ranked 22nd in the nation and 8th in the state.

The game started quickly and never let off the gas.  Timmy Hardy got the Saints on the board first, but Boys’ Latin responded less than a minute later.  Following another Laker goal, Hardy struck mesh again, tying the game at two to close out the first quarter.  As the two teams continued to swap goals, the game was still tied 5-5 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, St. Mary’s found a way to beat Latin’s defense.  Both teams scored early on, but then, kicked off by Bennett Johnson, St. Mary’s netted three consecutive goals.

Going into the final stanza, the Saints led 10-7.  Nick Boyles added to their total early on, and Hardy scored his third of the game.  The Lakers scored thrice in the fourth; however Latin was unable to catch the Saint, who walked away with a two-goal win.

Timmy Hardy and Bennett Johnson each finished with a hat trick.  Boyles followed up with two goals.

Now 6-5, St. Mary’s Annapolis prepares to face Gilman away on April 25.
